Here’s the video from the installation I began at E|MERGE.

This afternoon I went on a walk looking for materials to bring back into the library where I’m building a video installation.  I wanted to find a piece of wood that I could carve out the back side and embed an iphone into the back so you could see the screen through a hole in the front (which would play a looping video).  I didn’t quiet find what I was looking for.  I did find a many enormous dead or dying trees.

I was struck by their strength and verticality despite the lightness (weight) of their decaying and falling hulls.

*at midnight i preheated the oven to 375 degrees and made gluten free scones with ginger, apricot, raisins and cardamom.  mmmm

Here are some photo notes from today.  The apple trees are beginning to influence the direction I will take this week.

E|MERGE Begins

February 5, 2010

I’m here at Earthdance for the next ten days to work alongside others in movement/theater/performance/sound/music/visual art.  I’m going to be drawing, writing, making pictures and video in response to work I’m making and seeing being made and maybe I’ll perform something next weekend.  This is a first for me to write publicly like this.  I’m looking forward to the mediated audience as a way to structure the practice of documentation and link this week of creative practice to a community outside of Earthdance.

Stay tuned….
